Boldmere St. Michaels FC.
The organisation
West-Midlands based Boldmere St. Michaels FC (known to it’s supporters as ‘The Mikes’) was founded in 1883 as a youth football team.
During the 20th century, the club progressed through several local leagues, eventually joining the Birmingham & District Amateur League.
The challenge
Ambitious Boldmere has just completed a three-year development which included the installation of a 3G pitch and new state of the art changing rooms.
This has however, significantly driven up electricity costs and, along with an aim to adopt a greener operation, the club was seeking to reduce its power bills.
What we did
Kembla was called in to assess the installation in terms of what was needed, what could be included, and the difference this could make.
This consultation included a roof appraisal to determine the most suitable panels.
After speaking with the club’s leadership team, it became clear that a key factor for Boldmere was long-term reliability. A suitable Solar Edge system was therefore chosen, as this would deliver maximum performance through panel efficiency.
Operational monitoring for each panel was also included.
Kembla also asked for feedback at each stage, to ensure the client received exactly what they wanted.
In addition, on switch on day, a Kembla engineer showed the customer how to correctly monitor the system and get the very best return on their investment.
For the club, this resulted in the design and installation of a 29.82kw solar system saving annually, 6.3 tonnes of C02 emission, which equals the planting of 312 trees.
